History

SABRE Ballistics has been formed by merging SABRE Computers International, a ballistic instrumentation manufacturer, with HPD Ballistics, a range hardware manufacturer. Equipment has been supplied to twenty two countries, with major clients such as UK MoD and US DoD and we are continually developing our position as a major global supplier.

SABRE was originally established as a subsidiary of SEN, a Swiss high energy physics company, in 1977. Although we have long standing connections with Switzerland, the company has been British owned since 1980 and has changed direction towards defence.

In 1981, we developed our first ballistic instrumentation product, a rate of fire recorder which was developed to meet UK(MoD) and US(DoD) requirements. In 1985, we acquired the long established Milligan ballistic instrumentation product range, which included NATO approved velocity measurement equipment. We have continued to support and develop all these products.

In 1991, we acquired a shareholding in HPD Ballistics Ltd, which had been formed by a small group of experienced engineers from the Royal Small Arms Factory at Enfield. They specialised in the development of test guns, weapon rests and associated range hardware. By early 1998, HPD and SABRE had merged under the new name of SABRE Ballistics.

Such developments have enabled us continue building on our position as a major global ballistic equipment manufacturer.
